A while ago our school hosted a Jr. girls and boys volleyball tournament. Many teams came in for it there were 8 girls teams and 6 boys teams. They came from Wabowden, Moose Lake, Canberry, And a few other northern communities.

This tournament was a big deal to our team because at our last tournament we came in first place, this was our chance to defend our title against our 2 biggest components. The cranberry eagles and The Wabowden eagles.

The night before the tournament our volleyball team also hosted a dance for all the players. It was a great turn out everyone was there even some of the local kids showed up to help out with the sound and canteen. The Student Council also did a great job of doing the canteen through out the whole weekend.

We ended up coming in second in a really close good game against the Cranberry eagles. The games where all capped at 28( meaning there is no 2 point spread after you have reached 26 points) We lost by one point our team was upset at first, but then we realized we had done the best we could have.

A few days ago Mr.Fisher had us  do something  that I  thought was very strange. He said we are going to have a S.S test soon and you are responsible for making it . I was confused at first  because i didn’t get it  how  can you get the students to make the test and let them wright it .
He explained You are  each going to have to make up 7  good questions that  you think should be on the test and I will pick which ones go on the test and i might add a few more, and for everyone one that you get on your test I will up your mark by 3%. So we have all been writing our questions  and today  he gave us a copy of the test. He told us that  we where going to wright the  same test on Monday. Nothing would be changed. We can do what ever we like with our copy of the test.

I think this is a really neat  idea because  we got to make up the test and we also  get to know exactly what is on the test. This way no one can complain about  not having enough time to study  or the questions being to hard and we even have a chance to have a mark higher then 100% the highest  mark  I  will be able to get  is 106% ( 2 of my questions where put on the test).

I also think that  a lot of kids aren’t going to study for the test which isn’t very good in any case, but worse know because we actually have a copy of the test. I plan  on  doing the practice test and getting Mr.fisher to look at it . I think  that  this might cause a problem  with people trying to cheat on the test though. But it will also allow those kids who have a really hard time on tests to get  really high marks. I’m hoping  to get at  least  90% on this test .

   Community educators in Nata village gave a free workshop on first aid/HIV. They talked about how important it is to where gloves at all ties when treating people,more importantly  when they have cuts. They also talked about how to treat 1st  2nd and 3rd degree burns on all people.

 I think  that   this  is a very important thing to teach tham  because there village has alot of HIV/AIDS. There is a high risk of getting it  from  really  anything. It would be terrible  to get HIV/AIDS from trying to help someone.

I think that they  should continue having free workshops for people in the village to  further educate them . To  help with the better ment of there community. BUt i think they should open it up a bit to the youth and stuff. It  should also be about different kinds of topics. Just because there Village has a lot of HIV/aids doesnt mean everything has to be about that  one thing. Sure its good to educate the  people about it but if it was me i would get  board of it and not want to  go  to the workshops.

So far this  year we have done a lot of things involving Blogs( as you can tell ) and our RSS accounts . We use iGoogle for our RSS.  I  like using the Internet for righting assignments because it’s SOOO much easier.

                                                          Blogging

Looking  back on the year so far  we have done a lot with our blogs. There a really great  way  to do writing assignments. The reason i  got a blog in the first place was because of Mr. Fisher we where required in our first  year of his  class. At the start i wasn’t to happy about it because i couldn’t  really type that well because up until gr.5 I didn’t have any kind of typing class due to the fact that I was in Soar  to Success (  a reading program). But  know i’m much  better at it   and i  enjoy it. SO  far  this year i  have gotten 238 hits on my blog, On my clustr map it looks like most of the people come from The USA,India, and the Europe area. I have gotten 20 comments and 34 spam comments so far. which is not bad.  At  the  start of the year  my posts where short  but know they are much longer with more links and stuff.  i think  i’m using my blog about the best I can  all tho i could use it  for personal posts which i don’t do EVER.

                                                           RSS.

RSS is a great tool,  it’s helped me a lot this year  because it’s our S.S text book. I  like how it brings the new blog posts of the blogs to us and all the information  we need is  just a click away.  I have 3  tabs on my IGoogle ON  is my  S.S text book. One is just a few blogs from kids in our class, and the other one is my personalised tab it has widgets like face book, msn, translators,dictionary’s.etc . I think  that i  could subscribe  to more blogs and use it more then i do.
