In Kenya,Africa many womens rights groups launched a campaign this year to legalize abortion in Kenya completely. In Kenya abortion is highly illegal The only way you can get a legal abortion is if your pregnancy is a threat to your health or you have been rapped.
In Kenya this is a major problem because 300 000 illegal abortions are preformed yearly in Kenya resulting in an estimate of 20 000 women and girls ending up in a hospital because of this . This translates into about 800 illegal abortions per day in Kenya and the death of 2 600 women and girls due to unsafe abortions.Many people are for legalizing abortions. But a large portion of the religious leaders are very against it.
In my opinion what they are doing is totally wrong. I think it is 100% percent up to the person who is carrying the child whether or not to go through with the pregnancy .It’s like there forcing people to be Pro-live. When really it should be Pro-choice. I believe this because If its an unwanted baby it will be an unwanted child. For girls having a baby at a young age completely holds them back from so many things getting a good education and a career. Also because of this law some many people are dying. When if it was legal instead of someone having to get a unsafe abortion and them and the unborn child end up dying. Why just not have the pregnancy terminated. ?
